Will Campbell Sidelined with MCL Sprain Rookie Steps Up

Will Campbell, the Patriots’ left tackle, will be out of play due to an MCL sprain in his right knee. This isn’t the first time Campbell has faced such an injury, having endured a Grade 3 torn MCL last November. He returned for the postseason before fully healing and faced difficulties in his performance.

Drafted from Utah as a first-round pick, rookie Caleb Lomu took over for Campbell during the game against the Las Vegas Raiders after an adverse play involving teammate Rhamondre Stevenson. Coach Vrabel expressed confidence in Lomu’s performance, noting that his seamless transition may bode well for the team during Campbell’s recovery.

The team also anticipates the return of Marcus Bryant, another lineman, enhancing the depth in their offensive tackle spots. This comes amidst a string of injuries for the Patriots, impacting several key players, including running back TreVeyon Henderson and potentially A.J. Brown, who may return against the New York Jets.
